Diprobase Ointment provides long-lasting hydration

The composition of ointment emollients means that they provide hydration over a longer period than creams, lotions or gels which are lighter. However because they are heavier and greasier, ointments may be less cosmetically acceptable for some patients. Although for people whose eczema is more severe, the benefits of using an ointment may outweigh its texture. You may also find that some people are more willing to use an ointment at night-time when cosmetic acceptability is less important.9

Safety notice

Due to their paraffin content, ointment emollients are highly flammable. Clothing or bandages impregnated with ointment emollients burn more quickly and intensely and are harder to extinguish. Therefore patients should be warned about the potential dangers of smoking and coming into contact with naked flames. Visit the National Patient Safety Agency website to find out more. There is also a leaflet you can print out for your patients.
